Waltz Workshop, Sugar Gliders with Wendy Graham this Friday!

Join us! We dance at Decatur Recreation Center each Friday from 7:30 - 10:30 pm

The next Waltz Workshop with Tami and Ed Howe will be Friday, April 4 from 7:00-8:00 pm.

Tami and Ed Howe in motion

This workshop will work on finding your personal 3/4 rhythm, and then ways to synchronize with different partners and play with momentum. Last time we practiced open-hand position. In this next session we will learn some ways to move in cross-hand position. New and experienced dancers welcome.

Twin fiddles return with The Sugar Gliders for our contra dance (8 - 10:30)!

The Sugar Gliders are: Andy Howard and Lisa Backalenick on fiddles, Jeremy Aggers on banjo, Drew Keith on guitar, and Patrick Jackson on bass.

This week’s caller is Wendy Graham, a self-proclaimed "dance maniac" from Durango, CO.

Weekly gentle reminder: please check in and pay at the Decatur Rec staff desk before entering the dance hall. Regular admission is $15; people with limited income can pay $7.

As always, thank you to all the VOLUNTEERS who keep our dance running smoothly! Here’s how you can help:

  • Come early to help with heavy lifting for Sound setup

  • Sweep the dance floor before the dance

  • Set out chairs and fans

  • Assemble the caller stand

  • Keep the info desk supplied with name tags and markers

  • Sweep the dance floor after the dance

  • Help put away chairs, tables, sound equipment, fans, and caller stand - we must be out of the building by 11 pm!

  • Enjoy a “bit and a bite” at a local eatery after the dance - to celebrate a job well done!

And thank YOU for your support of Atlanta Contra Dance!
